FULL DESCRIPTION

SENIOR/UNREAL DEVELOPER

The Just Won’t Die Studio is looking for a highly skilled Unreal Engine Developer to work on an exciting new and original IP for console and PC.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of the Unreal Engine at the C++ level, as well as with the Unreal toolset and production pipeline. In addition, they will have hands-on experience of the technical procedures required to take a product through the full development life cycle, from the prototyping stage to shipping a finished product on both console and PC. They will also provide architectural oversight across the entire application.

As an experienced Unreal engineer, the ideal candidate will be able to create clean and efficient solutions to problems and have the ability to clearly explain and demonstrate their approach to colleagues in order to educate other team members on technical aspects of Unreal. As a member of this dynamic and high-performing team, you will work closely with the Art and Design teams to help materialise concepts whilst balancing the need for robust and resilient systems in the long-term.

The ideal candidate would have the industry knowledge and a passion for games. The position is in-house and based in Cambridge, UK.

Skills and Requirements

  • 5+ years industry experience of games programming
  • 3+ years industry experience of C++ programming in Unreal Engine
  • Shipped at least one triple AAA game title or multiple other titles using Unreal Engine
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of Unreal Blueprints
  • Ability to modify and build Unreal Engine source code
  • Proven experience of developing for and publishing onto console platforms (PS4, Xbox One) using Unreal Engine
  • Excellent understanding of at least 2 of the following disciplines in Unreal Engine:
    • Graphics/Rendering
    • Audio
    • Physics
    • Online subsystems and game session management
    • Multiplayer game systems, networking and replication (including ReplicationGraph)
    • Editor tooling and automation
  • Good working knowledge of git
  • Excellent communication and collaborative problem-solving skills

PLUSES:

  • Working knowledge of C#
  • Experience with python scripting
  • Experience of cloud-based hosting technologies, e.g. AWS/Azure/Google Compute or similar
  • Passion for competitive gaming, Esports or live events

Qualifications

Computing / Development related degree or ability to demonstrate equivalent work experience
