Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Lapping Operator to join our precision engineering team in Slough, United Kingdom. In this role, you will be responsible for operating lapping machines to achieve high-precision surface finishes on various components.

  • Operate and maintain lapping machines to produce precision-finished components
  • Set up and adjust lapping equipment according to specifications and job requirements
  • Monitor the lapping process to ensure consistent quality and adherence to tolerances
  • Perform precise measurements using specialised tools and equipment
  • Interpret technical drawings and work instructions to meet product specifications
  • Conduct regular quality checks and maintain detailed records of processes and outcomes
  • Clean and maintain lapping equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Collaborate with team members to improve processes and solve technical issues
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company procedures

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Lapping Operator or in a similar role within a manufacturing or precision engineering environment
Proficiency in operating lapping machines and related equipment
Strong knowledge of precision measurement tools and techniques
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Familiarity with quality control procedures and standards
Understanding of surface finishing techniques and their applications
Knowledge of materials science and surface properties
Secondary education or equivalent; vocational training in engineering or a related field is preferred
Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of accuracy
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team
Commitment to workplace safety and following proper procedures
