We have a vacancy for a Teaching Assistant (TA) to join the team in January 2025, working to support pupils learning, pastoral and behavioural needs.

As a TA at Arc Oakbridge School you will put pupils at the centre of your work, supporting them to thrive in the school environment so that they develop the skills needed for life. You will be assigned to a particular class of up to six pupils and will support them in all subjects. You will work with pupils to improve opportunities for them to develop their talents and interests and help them to grow in confidence and independence. You will be a team player and work closely with the wider, multi-disciplinary staff team to ensure pupils achieve the best possible outcomes.

Duties and responsibilities

Working with pupils

Identify strategies to help overcome individual pupils barriers to learning
Support pupils in line with their Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) and contribute to reviewing and updating these
Provide individual support for pupils and review ongoing progress towards set goals
Be prepared to use humour and restorative practice to ensure a child-centred approach
Support the transition of new pupils arriving or existing pupils returning to school, putting the necessary support in place to overcome any barriers to learning
Provide in class support as necessary to meet the needs of the school.
Working with staff

Liaise with other staff to monitoring pupils behaviour and well being
Work with an assigned subject lead to support the production and organisation of resources.
Working with parents/carers and external agencies

Build positive relations with parents/carers to encourage family involvement in their childs progress
Communicate with parents/carers about specific support in place for their child.
Administration

Maintain accurate records of behaviour and report safeguarding concerns as necessary.

Safeguarding

Work in line with statutory safeguarding guidance (e.g., Keeping Children Safe in Education, Prevent) and our safeguarding and child protection policies
Promote the safeguarding of all pupils in the school.
