Job Description
As a Chef de Partie you will work as an integral part of our kitchen team, assisting with food preparation and ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for cooking who are eager to gain experience working under the Head Chef and grow in their culinary career Previous experience as a Chef De Partie would be ideal
Responsibilities
Assisting the Head Chef in the preparation and cooking of high quality meals in line with our culinary standards.
Helping the Head Chef to ensure that deadlines are met and taking control of the running of the kitchen in their absence.
Using modern kitchen equipment and fresh local produce to develop full diet sensitive meals for residents.
Participating in the cleaning schedules following strict food safety and hygiene guidelines.
Working collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service during busy periods.
Working closely with the care staff and consulting with residents to understand their dietary needs and choices are met, including allergens, nutritional needs, and personal preferences.
Continuously developing your culinary skills and knowledge under the supervision of the Head Chef.
Qualifications/experience
A good knowledge of nutritionally balanced menu planning and a proven ability to cater for specific dietary needs.
Experience of stock control (essential) and working with a budget (preferred).
Food Hygiene Certificate (minimum level 2).
Skills
The ability to negotiate and influence, and organise your time by prioritising activities.
The ability to work in a pressured environment and produce meals based on agreed menus.
The ability to demonstrate initiative and be positive, flexible, innovative and work both as part of a team and individually.
Basic computer knowledge and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Communication
Exhibit a caring and understanding attitude towards the residents.
Participate in staff and client meetings as required.
Training
Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence.
Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.
Health and Safety
Ensure statutory health and safety standards in the kitchen and dining areas.
Make sure that chemicals/equipment are used correctly and safety procedures adhered to at all times. COSHH certificate will be required.
Ensure all crockery and equipment is cleaned and stored appropriately, and that the overall cleaning of the kitchen area (and, where appropriate, the dining areas) is carried out effectively.
Assist with the checking of equipment and food delivery temperatures as directed.
Report immediately to the home manager, or person in charge, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a client, colleague, self or another.
Understand and ensure the implementation of the homes health and safety, infection control and hygiene policies, and emergency and fire procedures.
Report to the home manager, or the maintenance person, any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard.
General
Contribute to the safeguarding of adults by ensuring you are aware of your role in relation to the homes safeguarding adults policy, take steps to protect Residents from any form of abuse or neglect and use of the appropriate reporting mechanisms to inform the homes management of any concerns.
Adhere to all new, and changes, in local and central government initiatives as and when they are implemented.
Promote and ensure the good reputation of the home.
Ensure that all information of a confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties.
Notify the home manager, or the person in charge, as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty, and also on your return to work from all periods of absence.
Ensure the security of the home is maintained at all times
Adhere to all company policies and procedures within the defined timescales.
Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained.
Requirements
Required knowledge & experience:
At least 1-3 years in a similar environment as Chef..
Health & safety procedures including control of substances harmful to health (COSHH) and food safety standards.
Proven chef and people management experience.
Basic Understanding of IDDSI
Working with fresh seasonal produce
Required skills:

Able to work effectively and produce delicious meals and present attractively based on implemented menus
