Job Description
We are recruiting for a Chef to work as part of our catering operation in a luxury care home in St. Albans.
You will work as part of a team responsible for providing exceptional food for full breakfast, lunch and evening meal service for up to 64 residents.
All our meals are made from fresh seasonal produce, and you will be required to have knowledge of special dietary requirements.
You will be reporting to the Head Chef and managing the Sous-Chefs.
This is a 42-hour week position, on a rotating shift pattern of 4 days/3 days per week, which offers a great work life balance, however, you will be required to work every other weekend.
Ideally having experience of working in a luxury care home setting or be an experienced Chef looking for a better work life balance.
All applicants must already hold the legal right to work in the UK.

Schedule:
12 hour shift , 7am -7pm
Day shift
Reporting into the Head Chef, responsibilities will include:
Helping the Head Chef ensure food is prepared to an agreed standard and that deadlines are met and taking control of running the kitchen in their absence
Using modern equipment and fresh local produce to develop full diet sensitive meals for residents
Helping to come up with menus, consulting with residents to ensure their needs an choices are met and preparing food in line with specific diets.
Maintaining compliance with food hygiene and health & safety standards.
Helping control kitchen stock, equipment and resources within budget
Requirements
Required knowledge & experience:
At least 1-3 years in a similar environment as Chef..
Health & safety procedures including control of substances harmful to health (COSHH) and food safety standards.
Proven chef and people management experience.
Basic Understanding of IDDSI
Working with fresh seasonal produce
Required skills:
Able to negotiate, influence, organise time and prioritise activities.
Able to work effectively and produce delicious meals and present attractively based on implemented menus
