Senior Project Manager (Engineering)

SCOPE OF ROLE

As a Senior Project Manager (Engineering), you will lead the delivery of multiple or complex cable route projects, ensuring alignment across programme, cost, quality and safety. Location: Potters Bar (Hybrid)

HOW YOU'LL SUCCEED

  • Lead multiple complex engineering projects with confidence and consistency
  • Provide clear technical direction, ensuring solutions are practical and buildable
  • Develop and manage high-performing teams through strong leadership and coaching
  • Balance competing priorities across pre-construction and delivery
  • Build trusted relationships with clients, stakeholders and internal teams
  • Drive continuous improvement across engineering and delivery practices

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Leading the delivery of multiple or high-risk cable route projects
  • Providing technical review, challenge and approval of engineering solutions
  • Overseeing feasibility and optioneering for complex engineering constraints
  • Line managing Engineering Project Managers and project teams
  • Driving team capability, succession planning and development
  • Managing stakeholder relationships, including DNOs, statutory bodies and clients
  • Overseeing budgets, forecasting and commercial performance
  • Ensuring robust risk management and governance across all projects
  • Reporting into senior leadership with clear, structured updates

WHAT IT TAKES

  • Strong experience in utilities/power / civil engineering environments
  • Proven track record in managing multiple or complex infrastructure projects
  • Experience in cable routing and complex crossings (HDD, TBM, trenching)
  • Knowledge of DNO / IDNO standards and UK regulatory frameworks
  • Experience engaging senior stakeholders (e.g. National Highways, Network Rail)
  • Demonstrated people leadership and team management experience
  • Strong commercial awareness and programme management capability
