[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking an experienced developer to join our visual effects team and lead the design and development of a USD asset management database for computer generated objects. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced developer to join our visual effects team and lead the design and development of a USD (Universal Scene Description) asset management database for computer generated objects. The ideal candidate will have experience with asset management databases, particularly within the visual effects industry, and will be responsible for creating and maintaining a robust and efficient system for managing and organising the vast amount of assets used in visual effects production.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and build a USD asset management database for CG objects
  • Create and maintain a system for organising, searching, and retrieving assets
  • Provide an integration path for unified scene assembly within the leading third party DCC applications (Maya, Nuke, Houdini, etc)
  • Work closely with the visual effects team to understand their needs and requirements for asset management
  • Optimise and fine-tune the asset management system for real-time use in VFX production
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in asset management and visual effects technology, particularly relating to USD development
  • Provide training and support to the visual effects team on the use of the asset management system
  • Create a versioning and archiving system that will allow rules based control of asset creation, asset migration, curation to CG library, and archiving

Requirements

  • Strong background in software development and database management
  • Experience with asset management databases, particularly within the visual effects industry
  • Experience with USD (Universal Scene Description)
  • Experience with other visual effects software such as Houdini, Maya, or Nuke
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is a plus.
