Job Description

This is a permanent post for a Band 8 Senior Registered Psychologist, working within the SWSC Psychology Services Group, based at HMP Guys Marsh. The Band 8 job description applies, with a responsibility for supporting the Enable Programme at the prison. The Enable Senior Registered Psychologist will play a key role in improving the way staff work together and relate to one another, at HMP Guys Marsh. The Psychologist will support the whole prison work in a reflective, relational, and psychologically informed way.

The post holder will work closely with senior leaders, managers, and frontline staff to:

  • Support healthier workplace culture and relationships
  • Embed reflective practice into everyday working
  • Help staff think and talk differently about their work, especially when it is emotionally demanding
  • Help embed the Enable programme to take hold and stay true to its aims.

The role combines psychological expertise with leadership, influence, and systems thinking, and includes working with staff across all grades of the prison.

Standard full time working hours are 37 hours per week excluding breaks which are unpaid. Membership requirements: Registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and two years post registration experience.
