Personality Difficulties Probation Officer - Northamptonshire - East of England

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a qualified Probation Officer to join the NPS East of England Personality Disorder Projects. This full-time, permanent role offers a salary of £35,130 - £42,000 and is based in Kettering, Northampton, or Wellingborough with hybrid working.

Job Description

Post holders will undertake the full range of offender management tasks with people on probation under supervision including assessment, sentence implementation and producing reports; utilising service procedures and practice directions to underpin professional judgement.

To assess and manage the risk posed by people on probation to protect victims of crime and the general public by providing information and advice to courts, supervising offenders, managing risk, and working with partner agencies.

Responsibilities, Activities & Duties

  • Provide professional advice and written reports to courts, Parole Board, and other agencies.
  • Undertake offender management tasks for all risk levels including high and very high.
  • Use computer-based systems for records and documentation.
  • Ensure timely referrals between offender management, court teams, victim contact units, interventions, Approved Premises, prisons, and external agencies.
  • Attend professional meetings and represent the PS at forums like MAPPA, MARAC.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and provide guidance to Probation Services Officers.
  • Conduct prison, home, or alternate location visits.
  • Deliver accredited programmes and conduct mandatory drug and alcohol tests.
  • Carry out safeguarding children duties.
  • Demonstrate pro-social modelling skills.

Additional Information - OPD Pathway

The Core OPD Pathway Service and IIRMS are jointly commissioned by NHS England and [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]. This role involves providing consultation appointments, recording OPD activity, representing services at MAPPA Level 3 panels, maintaining resources, developing training packages, and working jointly with NHS practitioners. The role also includes custody visits, developing psychologically-informed intervention plans, and working as part of a multi-agency team.

Requirements

  • Probation Officer qualification (PQF Honours Degree/Graduate Diploma and Level 5 Diploma in Probation Practice; or Diploma in Probation Studies; or Diploma in Social Work (Probation option); or CQSW (Probation option)).
  • Minimum of two years' post-qualifying experience.
  • Demonstrable interest in relational practice and working with individuals with personality difficulties.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-agency team.
  • Ability to travel regularly across the region.
  • Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System, relevant legislation, and risk/needs assessment tools.

Working Arrangements
