Job Description
The Business Architecture Team is recruiting for up to four Principal Adviser roles. They will work to Grade 6 Heads of Business Architecture, focusing on portfolios supporting the Department around its core workforce, infrastructure, skills and capability needs in the long term, and work on the development of an organisational strategy to support and guide decision making of Ministers and senior leaders. The role will have line management responsibility, oversight of work and projects, and contribute to the development of the team culture and performance.

The Business Architecture and Transformation (BAT) Directorate sits at the heart of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] within the People & Capability Group.
Key responsibilities include: leading major change projects, developing the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] organisational strategy, building relationships with stakeholders, preparing fiscal and political events, and line management of SEOs.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Ability to develop strategic insight and understand wider context
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to structure complex issues
- Confidence in using evidence and analysis for high-quality advice
- Strong prioritisation and decision-making skills
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship building
- Openness to challenge and ability to navigate conflicting priorities
Desirable:
- Experience in strategy or strategic finance within government or private sector
- Experience in business architecture
