Quality Manager – Food Sector – Leicester

Location: Leicester | Salary: Up to £35,000pa | Type: Permanent, Full-time

The Role

  • Ensure all products and packaging meet food safety, legality, and quality standards
  • Carry out sampling and testing of raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods
  • Maintain and audit documentation to ensure full traceability and due diligence
  • Manage HACCP procedures, CCP monitoring, and implementation of changes
  • Lead internal audits, including GMP, pest control, glass & plastic, and metal detection
  • Conduct annual BRC audits, monthly GMP audits, traceability exercises, and recall tests
  • Maintain and update the Quality Manual, procedures, and document control systems
  • Manage supplier approval systems and raw material risk assessments
  • Ensure customers receive accurate technical documentation, specifications, and certificates
  • Monitor, manage, and report supplier, internal, and customer complaints
  • Oversee environmental and allergen testing programmes
  • Escalate non-conformances that may impact food safety, legality, or BRC compliance
  • Act as a role model across the site, promoting high standards and compliance at all times
  • Work flexibly to support operational requirements when needed

The Requirements

  • Quality Control experience within a food manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of food safety, legality, allergens, and BRC standards
  • Ability to influence and engage teams at all levels
  • Strong communication skills, both written and numerical
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and relevant quality systems
  • Food Safety and Health & Safety training (desirable)
  • Experience identifying and implementing technical improvements
