Senior P&C Underwriter

A leading name in the insurance market has a new opportunity to join their Birmingham team as a Senior Property & Casualty Underwriter focusing on corporate level risks in excess of £100k.

  • Salary: £50000 - £80000 per annum
  • Location: Birmingham
  • Work Type: Hybrid (2 days per week in the office)

Job Description

This role will focus on existing business however at this level there would be an expectation of going the extra mile and demonstrating the right attitudes and behaviours both internally and externally. As a Senior Underwriter you be a key part of the team using your technical expertise to manage key accounts taking ownership of major deals, using your expertise to win and retain strategic accounts that directly drive business growth. You’ll build and develop partnerships with brokers, working closely together to unlock new opportunities and strengthen their presence in the market. You’ll represent the business confidently through regular face‑to‑face engagement, networking and active participation in industry events. Alongside this, you’ll act as a key point of contact for priority clients, anticipating their needs and delivering tailored, responsive support that reinforces long‑term relationships. Internally, you’ll play an important role in supporting team development by guiding peers, reviewing referrals and helping to ensure consistent delivery of high‑quality service. You’ll also work closely with internal departments to streamline processes, enabling seamless, client‑focused solutions across the business.

Requirements

  • Technical expertise in Property & Casualty underwriting
  • Experience managing corporate level risks
  • Strong broker and client relationship management skills
  • Ability to work face‑to‑face and network at industry events
  • Proven track record of winning and retaining strategic accounts
