The Principal Electrical Consultant to lead the delivery of electrical studies for renewable energy projects, including offshore and onshore wind, solar PV, and battery energy storage. The role covers pre‑FEED and FEED‑stage studies such as cable rating and FEA analysis, grid and connection strategy assessments, electrical design, earthing and protection philosophies, EMF studies, and substation layouts. You will provide technical leadership across projects, coordinating resources, mentoring engineers, and supporting business development through client engagement and the preparation of technical proposals.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead and deliver electrical technical studies for renewable energy projects at pre-FEED and FEED stage.
  • Act as technical authority for assigned projects, ensuring high-quality, consistent, and robust study outputs.
  • Undertake and review a range of electrical studies, including cable system, and electrical design assessments.
  • Develop electrical concepts, design bases, system architectures, and study methodologies appropriate to project stage.
  • Provide technical input to grid connection strategy and interface management with network operators.
  • Support electrical equipment specifications, drafting of Employer’s Requirements and technical evaluation for procurement activities.
  • Coordinate internal electrical resources and interfaces with other disciplines to deliver study scopes effectively.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including client engagement, bid strategy, proposal preparation, and technical marketing material.
  • Identify opportunities to expand and enhance the company’s electrical study offerings through new services, tools, or methodologies.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and training to junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Support continuous improvement of study processes, calculation tools, and quality assurance procedures.

What are we looking for?

  • Qualified to a bachelor’s or master’s degree standard in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • At least 6-8 years of work experience in a related area.
  • Exceptional knowledge and experience of renewable energy projects.
  • Good business development techniques.
  • Chartered member of a relevant professional institutional body is desirable.
  • On-site construction experience including witnessing / commissioning at substations and generation sites is beneficial.
