Job Description

Be the energy behind change. Join [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Group.

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Group is a leading global independent energy and marine consultant working in energy and oceans to de-risk and drive the energy transition across the renewables, maritime, and oil and gas sectors, offering the deepest pool of expertise across marine and engineering disciplines in more than 300 locations globally.

The Principal Engineer will lead the delivery of medium to large and complex marine warranty survey (MWS) renewable installation projects. You will focus on the transport and installation of subsea power cables, including responsibility for technical document review and the management of defined project packages or full project scopes. Additionally, you will support the development of the wider energy business, providing technical leadership, and mentoring support to other engineers.

What will you be doing?

  • Plan and deliver MWS and engineering scopes, including defining deliverables, schedules, and resourcing for assigned projects.
  • Manage projects and client relationships, maintaining clear oversight of project objectives and outcomes.
  • Review and verify engineering calculations, method statements, and analyses in line with international codes and standards.
  • Lead and coordinate engineers and project personnel to deliver work on schedule, within budget, and to required quality and HSE standards.
  • Maintain accountability for MWS and engineering integrity, including forecasting, change management, corrective actions, and real-time scheduling.
  • Develop, manage, and control project budgets and ensure accurate project tracking.
  • Ensure all project activities comply with company policies, procedures, and governance requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews, audits, and engineering reviews related to MWS projects.
  • Liaise with clients and third parties to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and technical guidance to engineers and personnel, including those new to subsea power cable MWS activities.
  • Prepare proposals, tender inputs, and support business development and bid-winning activities.
  • Promote and ensure compliance with Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) requirements across all project activities.

What are we looking for?

Ideally, you will bring deep technical expertise across the full lifecycle of offshore power cables, including interconnectors and inter‑array cables—from design and manufacture through to transport, trenching and installation. While prior Marine Warranty Survey (MWS) knowledge is beneficial, training can be provided. More specifically, we are looking for the following.

  • Degree‑level qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Offshore Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation.
  • Approximately 15 years’ professional experience with offshore power cables.
  • Knowledge of MWS principles, industry standards, and regulatory codes, with the ability to apply these to power cable analysis and design.
  • Offshore operational experience.
  • Working knowledge of standards such as DNV‑ST‑N001, DNV‑RP‑0360, DNV‑ST‑0539, CIGRE, and ICPC recommendations are desirable.
