System Modelling Engineer

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is hiring a System Modelling Engineer for a 12-month fixed term contract. Base location: Glasgow, Reading, Perth or Inverness (hybrid working). Salary: £69,105 - £81,406 per year.

The Role

You will ensure that the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Distribution Network is modelled accurately. Responsibilities include:

  • Perform power flow analysis, fault level studies, voltage and thermal capability, transient stability, fast switching, harmonic and power quality analysis.
  • Develop publicly available data for LTDS, Load Index Reporting, Week 24, EDCM & CDCM, ED2 Outputs.
  • Support data exchange reforms of LTDS and Week24 using CIM integration.
  • Ensure compliance with Grid Code and licence obligations.

About You

Key requirements:

  • Understanding of statutory, regulatory & license requirements, industry codes, network and engineering standards.
  • HNC in Electrical Engineering with relevant experience, or relevant STEM degree.
  • Fundamental knowledge of electricity network design, operation, protection, safety, and Transmission interface.
  • Experience with Power System Analysis software (PowerFactory, PSSE) and Python; understanding of CIM an advantage.
  • Data governance and large dataset analysis skills.
