Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Lead Engineer - Mechanical, the key duties and responsibilities include:
Technical Leadership
- Overseeing mechanical engineering activities for CCGT and OCGT plants.
- Developing asset management plans for gas turbines, steam turbines, pumps, compressors, and auxiliary systems.
- Ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, and standards.
Function Leadership
- Providing on-the-job training and technical knowledge transfer.
- Coordinating activities across functions and departments.
- Planning and controlling major outages and overhauls.
- Supporting financial control of budgets.
Operations & Maintenance Support
- Managing condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and online diagnostics.
- Troubleshooting complex mechanical faults.
- Reviewing mechanical spares and obsolescence strategies.
Project & Asset Management
- Leading mechanical scope in plant upgrades and major outages.
- Managing contractor performance and LTSA/CSA agreements.
- Attending FAT and technical meetings with OEMs.
- Managing spare parts and budget preparation.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensuring adherence to safety standards and procedures.
- Maintaining records per ISO, regulatory, and OEM requirements.
- Contributing to safety culture via inspections and briefings.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Background:
- Significant mechanical engineering experience with knowledge of Open Cycle and Combined Cycle Power Plant (essential).
- Experience maintaining rotating plant to safety standards (essential).
- Knowledge of maintenance philosophies and technical legislation (essential).
- Knowledge of planning and project management (essential).
- In-depth knowledge of combined/open cycle plant and auxiliaries (desirable).
- Commercial awareness of electricity generation market (desirable).

Qualifications:
- Relevant degree in mechanical discipline or equivalent with significant power station experience (essential).
- Chartered Engineer status (desirable).
