Senior Full Stack Software Engineer (x2)

Purpose of the post

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] requires the services of two experienced Senior Full Stack Software Engineers. One fixed term role till March 2027 to help develop the next phase of our technical solutions including the Health Data Research Gateway, Safe People Registry, Cohort Discovery Service and future technology services. A second fixed term role for 24 months will develop a Population Research Gateway in collaboration with Population Research UK. The portal will reuse and extend the modular open-source codebase of the Health Data Research Gateway to serve the UK's longitudinal population-study ecosystem.

Main Responsibilities

  • Software Development: Full Stack development, Content Management, Web portals, APIs, Visualisations, working in agile methodology, documenting code, code review, and championing features.
  • Technical Expertise: Troubleshooting, collaborating with external partners, guiding integration.
  • Training and Capacity building: Maintain best practices, engage with national/international bodies.
  • Community and Engagement: Sustain technical community, demonstrate technical leadership.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Experience in agile/scrum development teams
  • 7+ years software development experience
  • Demonstrable experience using Git (preferably GitHub)
  • Software development best practices (testing, CI, documentation, release management)
  • Full stack development experience across web portals, APIs, and integrations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • BSc (2:1 or better) in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Experience with Confluence, JIRA, Trello or similar Agile project management tools
