Purpose of the post

The Senior Programme Manager will be a key member of the Research Driver and Infrastructure Programme team at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]. They will work across the Institute and UK wide [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] community, working with [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]'s national research and infrastructure teams and delivery partners to support operational delivery and strategy of the Big Data for Complex Disease Driver Programme, and existing and emerging programmes of work across Research Driver and Infrastructure teams to enable and promote integration and alignment of health data infrastructure development with research need.

The post holder will provide senior management leadership and will have day to day responsibility for operational management of the Big Data for Complex Disease Driver Programme – led by Professor Cathie Sudlow ([Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]) and Professor Mark Lawler (Queens University Belfast) – ensuring alignment with the BHF Data Science Centre’s Whole Population Data theme.

The Senior Programme Manager will have responsibility as required for delivery and co-ordination of emerging integration projects across Drivers and Infrastructure Programmes.

Main responsibilities

  • Lead on senior operational management of the Big Data for Complex Disease Driver Programme: oversee day to day management, develop full scale project plans, manage recruitment, manage reporting and governance, lead budgetary and financial management, build and maintain relationships, lead on management of the UK wide Programme consortia, oversight of PPIE, represent the Programme at conferences, line management of the Driver Programme project manager.
  • Lead on delivery of emerging integration projects across wider Driver and Infrastructure Programmes: enable collaborative opportunities, identify key stakeholders, support leveraged funding, contribute to reporting, support management of integration project groups, oversight of PPIE.
  • General responsibilities: respond to challenges, display flexibility, identify opportunities to improve ways of working.

Experience

  • Several years’ experience of managing large scale, UK-wide research programmes, with understanding of research delivery within the public sector, academia or industry.
  • Several years’ experience of working in the health data ecosystem in the UK, with good understanding of health data science research and infrastructure.
  • Understanding of health data information governance, security and privacy requirements.
  • Understanding of the types of research enabled by health data.
  • Experience of presenting complex information to different audiences.
  • Ability to manage complex multi-stakeholder projects.
  • Experience of navigating ambiguity and providing clarity.
  • Experience of building collaborative teams across multiple organisations.
  • Proactive approach and expertise in developing creative solutions.
  • Experience of financial management.
  • Knowledge of project management tools and demonstrable experience.
