Purpose of the post
The post holder will have key responsibility for delivery of the Public Engagement Strategies for [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] and for the Public Engagement in Data Research Initiative (PEDRI). Reporting to the Head of Public Involvement and Engagement, this is a pivotal role integral to raising awareness of opportunities for public involvement.
Main responsibilities
- Lead delivery of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] PPIE and PEDRI strategy for engaging and communicating with patients, the public and practitioners.
- Build and maintain high-level internal and external relationships with key stakeholders.
- Support external advocacy and influence policy.
- Horizon scan for opportunities to share successes.
- Develop innovative approaches using digital platforms and face-to-face activities.
- Ensure diversity of perspectives by expanding reach to underrepresented groups.
- Report on people's experience of involvement and drive positive responses.
- Plan, deliver, manage risks, and carry out monitoring and evaluation.
- Commission and manage external suppliers.
- Organise high-quality events for wide audiences.
- Work with the communications team to develop channels and content.
- Ensure communications are shaped by patient and public input.
- Act as an internal and external ambassador for engagement.
Knowledge, skills and experience
Experience
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Experience of managing stakeholders including CRM systems.
- Experience creating and delivering public engagement and communications strategies.
- Considerable experience leading media and communication campaigns.
- Experience leading public events (e.g. science festivals, workshops).
- Producing high-quality content for online and offline channels.
- Managing website content.
- Supplier management for events and projects.
- Building buy-in across diverse stakeholders.
- Delivering complex programmes in a fast-paced environment.
- Running multiple projects with conflicting priorities.
- Excellent planning, organisation, and project management skills.
- Experience of planning and evaluating activities.
- Organising and facilitating successful events.
- Facilitating meetings and delivering presentations.
