Contract: Full time, fixed term for 24 months with possibility of extension

Location: Flexible (primary base anywhere in UK, travel to London required)

Purpose of the post

The Programme Manager will play an important role in working with the research community, research funders, and existing infrastructure providers from across the UKRI’s research councils and other stakeholders ensuring that the voices of these communities are embedded into the design of this UK-wide research infrastructure. You will be part of a team delivering this high-profile programme of work and your strong programme management skills will be essential to making this a success. As the Programme Manager, you will be accountable to the Deputy Director and responsible for supporting the successful development and delivery of specific components of the programme.

Main responsibilities

  • Lead the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Community Building programme of work to establish and coordinate collaborative, open communities towards a community-led approach to a federated UK sensitive data research ecosystem with shared standards for governance, ethics, and metadata.
  • Work within programme oversight structures to ensure identified key programme tasks are completed on time and new activities continuously planned in.
  • Project manage specific activities across the programme including supporting collaborations with other relevant, inter-disciplinary programmes of work.
  • Support establishing and refining the aims, objectives, outputs, and outcomes of the programme based on feedback, lessons, and new developments.
  • Support with developing and commissioning work to test and drive forward a federated UK sensitive data research ecosystem with shared standards for governance, ethics, and metadata.
  • Support with coordinating the involvement of key stakeholders at appropriate stages throughout the programme.
  • Support with ensuring that community and public engagement are embedded throughout [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] programmes of work.
  • Support development of reference communication materials such as standard presentations and comms decks.
  • Support the organisation and delivery of events for knowledge exchange for diverse group(s) of participants.
  • Enable use of appropriate team communications and project management tools.
  • Maintain a structured filing system which includes easy identification and maintenance of the latest versions of key reference materials.
  • Ensure that regular reports are received from different work streams – both internal and external – and prepare updates based on these for onward communication.
  • Attend conferences, events, and meetups relevant to the programme’s vision and work.
  • Be prepared and able to work flexibly to support colleagues as needed, adapting to an evolving environment and emerging priorities.

Experience

Essential:

  • Expertise in successfully supporting the delivery of complex programmes with multiple components and many collaborating organisations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Expertise in a range of specific project management tools and improvement methodologies.
  • Experience applying management principles and processes while proactively managing risk.
  • Ability to rapidly develop an understanding of data-influenced research processes.
  • Ability to process complex information and present targeted messages to different audience.
  • Ability to work autonomously.

Skills
