The [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Big Data for Complex Disease Driver Programme has up to £1.8 million available to fund five fellowships to accelerate the careers of early career researchers ambitious for a future in health data science - apply by 5 February, 2024.

About the Programme

The BDCD Driver Programme Fellowship programme is designed to accelerate the careers of high potential early career researchers (ECRs) who wish to pursue a career in health data science, and help deliver the ambitious aims of the BDCD Driver Programme to harness whole population, national linked health data to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease, cancer, and other complex diseases. Each Fellowship will fund the salary and associated on costs of each Fellow, plus up to £15,000 per annum in research costs.

Selection Criteria

  • The Fellow: Applicants should have a PhD (or equivalent) and/or clinical professional qualification, with experience and strong interest in health data science.
  • The Project: Rated on scientific excellence, importance, originality, feasibility, potential impact and alignment with BDCD programme.
  • The Supervisory/Mentorship team: Must include a primary supervisor at a UK research organisation/university and at least one secondary supervisor at another UK institution.
  • The Host research organisation: Must be signatories to the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Institute Agreement or part of a Consortium Agreement subject to the Institute Agreement.

Indicative Timeline

  • Deadline: 17:00hrs Monday, 5 February 2024
  • Panel shortlisting: early-mid February 2024
  • Interviews: 20 and 26 February 2024
  • Start: April – September 2024
