Communications and Content Officer

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is hiring a Communications and Content Officer. This permanent, remote role offers a salary of £35,700 - £38,000 per annum. The deadline for applications is 14 June 2023.

Purpose of the post

This role is a key member of the Communications and External Affairs Team at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], reporting to Research Communications Manager and working with colleagues across the Institute and the wider UK health research sector. As we move into the delivery of our new strategy, the Communications and Content Officer will play a pivotal role in refining our narrative and brand structure, continuing to grow our digital communications and undertaking proactive media relations to achieve the institute’s objectives.

The postholder will:

  • Generate a wide range of compelling and engaging content to support [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]’s communications strategy
  • Manage and improve our communication channels, producing content to reach core audiences
  • Support the Communications and External Affairs team in raising [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]’s profile

Main responsibilities

Content production

  • Work with internal teams and external partners to identify and write compelling content on strategic priorities
  • Work with the Research Communications Manager to support communications focused on scientific impact
  • Manage the content planner
  • Lead on audio-visual content and managing freelancers
  • Support and promote external events
  • Ensure communications are insight-led and accessible

Publishing

  • Manage social media channels (Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube)
  • Share social media best practice
  • Publish content on [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]’s websites
  • Deliver email communications via CRM

Monitoring and reporting

  • Monitor social channels and media coverage
  • Support CRM use
  • Review analytics and develop insights

Person specification

Essential experience and knowledge

  • Strong understanding of science/health research
  • Experience creating compelling digital and social media content
  • Managing social media channels professionally
  • Ability to produce visual content using Canva
  • Website publishing using a CMS
  • Writing briefs and managing freelancers

Desirable

  • Understanding of metrics and reporting
  • Knowledge in Adobe design software
  • Experience using CRM for communications
