Key Responsibilities

  • Build constructive, positive and professional relationships with prisoners.
  • Work various shifts including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
  • Support colleagues and maintain safety in the prison environment.
  • Carry out roles as a peacekeeper, counsellor or teacher as needed.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years old at start of employment.
  • Meet Civil Service Nationality requirements.
  • Pass medical and fitness assessment.
  • Meet eyesight and hearing standards.
  • No offensive tattoos (facial tattoos generally not acceptable).
  • For high security prisons, UK residency for last 3 years.
