Laundry Operative
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a Laundry Operative to join their team at Tickhill Road Hospital, Doncaster. The role is permanent, part-time, and offers a salary of £26,299.62 per annum. Closing date: 20 May 2026.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Laundry Supervisor, the post holder will contribute to the provision of an efficient laundry and linen service. The post holder will operate laundry machinery, handle laundry chemicals, and process soiled and clean linen items.
The post-holder will relate with the following key groups: Daily contact with the Laundry Supervisor, colleagues within the team, and customers both internal and external. Communication will include routine information around the laundry function.
Main Duties of the Job
- Operate laundry machinery safely and follow all hygiene and infection-control procedures.
- Sort, wash, dry, press and prepare linen and personal clothing to required standards.
- Distribute linen to wards, complete stock checks and maintain appropriate linen levels.
- Monitor quality and cleanliness, resolving issues and reporting concerns when needed.
- Complete basic administrative tasks such as order forms, attendance recording and cash handling.
- Support opening and closing of the laundry, ensuring equipment and the building are secured.
- Communicate with customers and suppliers in the absence of a supervisor.
- Work in hot, noisy or unpleasant environments and use all required PPE.
- Carry out physically demanding tasks and undertake all required training.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential: GCSE or equivalent in maths and English. Desirable: Level 2 qualification in hotel services/support services or equivalent.
Experience
Essential: Experience of working in a laundry, cash handling, and ability to use a computer for data input, email, and e-learning. Desirable: Hospital/hotel services environment.
Knowledge
Essential: Basic knowledge of Health & Safety, understanding of COSHH, awareness of safe handling and processing of soiled and clean linen. Desirable: Responsibilities under HASAWA CFPP01-04 Decontamination of Linen for Health and Social Care.
Skills/Abilities
Essential: Ability to understand and adhere to standards, work as a team member, excellent hygiene standards, good interpersonal and communication skills, ability to operate machinery safely. Desirable: Able to acquire new skills and work towards a qualification.
Additional Requirements
Essential: Flexible and versatile approach. Desirable: Access to transport and ability to travel within the required geographical area.
