About the Job

Community Staff Nurses are a valued part of our skill mix team, who work with the Named Health Visitor and Early Years Family Practitioners to empower Children, Young People and Families to make healthy lifestyle choices. They are able to offer Healthy Child Programme contacts, identifying when extra help may be required and offer the appropriate support or signposting as needed under the direction of named Health Visitor.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to build effective working relationships with a wide range of people. They will have exceptional time management and organisational skills and demonstrate a resilient, brave and connected mind set. The ability to travel throughout the Borough is essential and therefore a car driver would be preferable. Main Duties

  • You will bring excellent communication skills and be able to build effective working relationships with a wide range of people.

  • Must be a qualified nurse, hold a current NMC registration with up to date revalidation.

  • Offered a tailored induction programme and full training with support through a well-designed preceptorship programme.
  • Must be able to travel throughout Swindon. Having access to a car would be preferable.

Job Responsibilities

  • To practice as a Registered Nurse or Midwife with the supervision of a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN).
  • Demonstrate behaviours as an NMC registrant, upholding the code, principles and guidance of the nursing regulatory body.
  • Build effective relationships with a wide range of people, networks, communities and professionals to improve outcomes for the age 0-19 population.
  • Use appropriate frameworks to contribute towards assessments to ensure appropriate support and cost-effectiveness.
  • Participate in meetings of internal/external partners.
  • Act on instructions and requests from Specialist practitioners.
  • Participate in planning and reviewing cases and projects.
  • Undertake a delegated caseload and work autonomously where appropriate.
  • Support recruitment and induction of new staff, act as a nominated buddy.
  • Provide feedback on operational issues to support improvement.
  • Demonstrate personal accountability for best practice and own development.
  • Work with confidence across all areas of universal services as appropriate.

Person Specification

Experience - Essential

  • Evidence of continuing post-registration education and training.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory processes and policy frameworks (NMC Code, Standards of Proficiency, Every Child Matters, Healthy Child Programme).
  • Experience of co-ordinating and supporting nursing care delivery in the relevant service area.

Qualifications - Essential

  • BSc (Hons) Nursing or Midwifery or equivalent.
  • Current registration with NMC as a Registered Nurse or Midwife.
  • Full driving license and car for work use.
