Job Summary

Two full time posts from August 2026. The post is CT3 equivalent with the appointed candidate supported in completion of all key competencies as set by the Royal College of Anaesthetists. Additional support with FRCA exam practice is provided with a strong department teaching programme.

Main Duties of the Job

• Anaesthetic services for 12 Main Theatres covering: General and Vascular Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, Maxillofacial and Dental, Paediatrics, Gynaecology, Urology, Orthopaedics and Trauma.
• Day Surgery Unit with 4 fully equipped theatres.
• 2 theatres and a recovery bay in the labour ward complex for elective and emergency cases.
• Intensive Care Unit providing high quality care for 22 level 3 and level 2 beds.
• Clinical service commitment in the anaesthetic department and an additional 1 in 8 on-call commitment with internal cover either to theatres or ITU (EWTD compliant shift system).
• Daily clinical teaching in theatres and once weekly teaching organised and supervised by Consultants.
• Involvement in high quality research & development encouraged.

Person Specification

• Registration (Essential): Full/Limited/Provisional GMC Registration
• Experience (Essential): Minimum of 2 years experience in anaesthetics
• Examination (Essential): Primary FRCA
