Job summary
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for motivated and enthusiastic pharmacists to join our Kensington, Chelsea and Westminster Pharmacy team at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]. Registered pharmacists are invited to apply for the post. The fixed-term post offers you an excellent opportunity for Band 7 experience. It also offers a great opportunity to develop your clinical and professional knowledge and skills in both physical and mental healthcare settings. The post-holder will have an opportunity to provide specialist mental health services to sites such as in-patients, home treatment teams and community mental health teams. If you are successful, you will work in a supportive, friendly and forward thinking environment. You will be encouraged and supported in your development through the rotations.
Main duties of the job
- To deliver a comprehensive medicines optimisation service to [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] (CNWL) patients and the multidisciplinary treatment team responsible for their care, in line with Trust policies, procedures and standards
- To develop the clinical knowledge and skills to practice competently as a Specialist Pharmacist.
- To deliver a safe, and effective dispensing and supply service to St Charles Hospital when required, as per rota.
- To cover for other pharmacists in their absence.
- To work with Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technicians (MOPT) in the delivery of medicines reconciliation and discharge counselling.
- To provide input into policy and procedures affecting the use of medicines at local and Trust wide level under direction of the Advanced Specialist Pharmacist.
- To act as a Practice Supervisor in the training and education of pre-registration pharmacists.
- To participate in the pharmacy on-call service (Emergency Duty Cover, bank holiday rotas) and a Saturday service at the St Charles Hospital site.

Person Specification
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Post Graduate Certificate in General Clinical Pharmacy
- Master's Degree in pharmacy
- Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
Desirable
- Membership of the College of Mental Health Pharmacy
- Post Graduate Certificate in Psychiatric Therapeutics
- Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy (or working towards)

- Critical appraisal skills
- The ability to identify and prioritise clinical work load
- Communicates with medical, nursing and pharmacy staff in a clear precise and appropriate manner
- To have an awareness of government and professional policy/legislation that affects the delivery of pharmacy services e.g. NICE, RPS
- The ability to identify and manage risks
- Demonstrates awareness of the clinical governance agenda
- Teaching and presentation skills
- Meets expected levels of practice as defined by others
- Ability to evaluate own work
- Demonstrates ability to apply clinical knowledge to patient care
- Demonstrates ability to meet set targets

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Extensive post registration training relevant to hospital pharmacy
- Demonstrate the ability to appropriately recommend, substantiate and communicate therapeutic options to patients with mental health illnesses
- Previous evaluated experience of supervision, mentorship and training skills
- To have undertaken clinical audit
- Training and education
Desirable
- Previous experience in providing Clinical Mental Health Pharmacy Services
- Monitoring and advising on drug expenditure
- Staff Management Experience
