Job Summary

We are seeking to appoint a Consultant Radiologist to join our friendly and dynamic team at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]. We are looking to further expand our clinical team. Applicants must have full registration with the GMC with FRCR (or equivalent) and either be eligible for inclusion on the GMC's Specialist Register or be within six months of obtaining their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at the date of interview.

Main Duties of the Job

  • General radiology commitment including plain film reporting, ultrasound, MRI and CT work, timetabled.
  • Subspecialty interests accommodated within job plan.
  • Full-time contract includes 1.5 PAs for Supporting Professional Activities and 1 PA for 7-day working (currently 1 in 16 on-call rota).
  • Commitment to flexible 7-day service.

Job Responsibilities

Full aspects of the specialism/requirements are outlined on the Job Description and Person Specification.

7 Day Working

The successful candidate would be expected to participate in the 7-day working rota, currently 1 in 16, joining the Registrar rota. Candidates are expected to cover 1 evening every 4 weeks (5pm-7pm) and 1 weekend in 16 (Friday 5-7pm, Sat and Sunday 9am-6pm). An outside agency provides an on-call service from 7pm (6pm at weekends).

Teaching

Share in training of Specialty trainees and clinical fellows in Radiology, including clinical and educational supervisor responsibilities. Some teaching of non-radiology junior staff and allied health professionals expected.

Clinical Meetings

Attendance at cancer and non-cancer multidisciplinary team meetings as appropriate to specialty and sector MDT meetings required.

CPD / Postgraduate Education

The Trust has a well-equipped multidisciplinary Education Centre. All Consultants are eligible for CPD with a budget managed by the Director of Medical Education.

Clinical Governance and Audit

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Directorate Clinical Audit Programme and participate in quality improvement projects.

Research

An interest in research welcomed; Consultants encouraged to get involved in research and publications.

Person Specification

Educational Qualifications

  • Essential: Basic Medical Qualification (MBChB/MBBS or equivalent), FRCR or equivalent
  • Desirable: Additional undergraduate or postgraduate qualification

Professional / Occupational Qualifications

  • Essential: Certificate of Specialist Training in Radiology (or within 6 months of award at time of Advisory Appointment Committee)

Experience

  • Essential: Extensive experience in general radiology including plain film interpretation, ultrasound, CT and MRI; on-call experience
  • Desirable: Experience of working within the UK NHS; additional special radiological interest and expertise

Other Requirements

  • Domicile within 30-minute commutable distance of Royal Bolton Hospital for emergency response
  • Valid driving license and car
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Ability to lead, manage and motivate staff; effective team member
  • Excellent clinical and communication skills
