Job Summary

For this role you will undertake a 22-month Business Administrator development programme within the department through work-based learning and by attending regular training sessions. Successfully completing the training programme will lead to an Intermediate Apprenticeship at Level 3. This position is offered as a fixed term contract with the opportunity to become permanent once the qualification is successfully completed and achieved. Please be advised if you already hold a qualification in this subject area at Level 3 or higher (so Business Administration or Business Management) you are not eligible to apply for this apprenticeship position.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Communicate with patients and their relatives regarding appointments and admissions details both verbally and in writing.
  • Assist in the validation and performance management of PTL monitoring, ensuring booking, data recording, clinic and elective admissions outcomes of the patient pathways are proactively managed in order to achieve 18-week targets.
  • Provide cross cover within the team as and when required.
  • Work flexible hours as required by the needs of the service.
  • Ensure full compliance with the Trust's waiting list policy in line with the national 18-week target.
  • Follow Trust escalation policy if patients require cancellation.
  • Ensure all paperwork is filed in the patient's notes as per Trust policy.
  • Train other staff members as required in the role.
  • Proactively manage workload and amend practices, within remit, to improve processes and patient experience.
  • Work as part of a team alongside other clerical staff and a wider multidisciplinary team delivering a high quality service to staff and patients, including external contacts and stakeholders.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential: Educated to GCSE English and Maths (Grades D-G, 3-1 Numerical Grade) or Functional Skills Level 1 equivalent.

Experience and Knowledge

Desirable: Health records experience, Experience of working with the general public.
