We have an exciting opportunity to join our Elective Booking & Scheduling Team based at Stepping Hill Hospital. As a member of the team, you will assist with managing waiting lists for elective surgery and working in accordance with Government Access targets to ensure patients are treated in line with Trust Access policies.

This post is varied and includes contact with patients and many Health Care Professionals.

We are looking for an individual with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in an environment where demands and priorities change quickly.

We are looking for someone educated to a minimum of GCSE standard or with equivalent relevant experience, with a minimum of one year experience working in a patient/customer focused environment. An awareness of Government Access targets would be desirable. You must be well organised, able to work on your own initiative and demonstrate confidence in independent decision making.

Main duties of the job

  • To take a lead role in managing the waiting list of a group of consultants. This will involve cross covering and supporting other specialities when required to support the team and services.
  • Monitor the waiting list and work list daily to ensure Government Access Targets are not breached.
  • To co-ordinate admission and associated pre-operative assessment clinics.
  • To act as a named contact point, liaising with patients and relatives, as well as medical representatives.
  • To deal with enquiries from all service users in a helpful, courteous, and diplomatic manner.
  • To ensure that patient confidentiality is always maintained.
  • To ensure compliance with a range of Trust policies, i.e., Health & Safety, Infection Control Data Protection.
  • To provide advice to patients in matters relating to admission (pre-and post-operative guidance etc.) and about their position on the waiting list.
  • To assist in the training of new members of staff in the department, as required.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for the management of the waiting list of a group of consultants.

They will be the main point of contact for patients and healthcare professionals involved in the patients care.
