Job Summary
Applications are invited for Education Fellowships supporting undergraduate and postgraduate medical education at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] (SWB). We are looking for enthusiastic doctors with an interest in Medical Education who wish to develop this area further either as Clinical Teaching Fellows (CTFs) or as hybrid CTF / Simulation Fellows (roughly 50% time spent as CTF and 50% time spent as Simulation Fellow). Successful CTF candidates will be an integral part of the Undergraduate Teaching Academy to develop and deliver teaching to medical students from both Aston University (AMS) and University of Birmingham (UoB). Successful candidates for the hybrid posts will also be involved in the development and delivery of a programme of simulation-based training for junior trainees and expand it to include a strong interdisciplinary element.

Main Duties of the Job
- Support completion of a certificate in postgraduate medical education (PGCME) or equivalent.
- Hospital-based clinical teaching at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) and Sandwell Health Campus.
- Suits doctors seeking to develop teaching skills before entering Core or Higher Specialist Training.
- Minimum 2 years' postgraduate experience required (usually Foundation training).
- Posts are for one year starting 5th August 2026.
- Work as a team to provide ward and simulation based teaching, as well as mentorship to groups of students.

Person Specification
Essential qualifications: MBBS or equivalent. Completed FY1 and FY2 training. Full GMC registration with license to practice. Experience: Computer literate, ability to word process, prepare presentations, carry out literature searches. Teaching: Evidence of enthusiasm for teaching, experience in clinical settings, able to prepare & deliver seminars for small group teaching, willingness to undertake training in medical education, ability to critically assess data. Personal qualities: Self-motivated, adaptable team player, excellent written & verbal communication skills, evidence of organisational ability. Clinical care: Competent in basic clinical procedures (CPR, infection control, physical examination, history taking), understands patient confidentiality and data protection. Language: Able to communicate effectively in written and spoken English with IELTS minimum scores 7.5 in all domains. Probity: Displays honesty and integrity.
