Pay: Depending on experience
Contract: Permanent, Part-time (20–30 hours/week, Wed–Fri, 8am–6:30pm)

Job summary
Responsible to - Senior HCA and Lead Nurses. You are committed to general practice and can understand the benefits of working at a practice where staff development and progression are key. You will join a team of 2 practice nurses, 1 trainee nursing associate, 1 trainee healthcare assistant. Working hours are within a flexible shift pattern between 8.00am and 6.30pm Wednesday to Friday.
Main duties of the job
- Venepuncture (checking request forms, patient ID, equipment, drawing blood, labelling bottles)
- Blood Pressure, height & weight measurements
- Smoking status checks
- Urinalysis & processing of samples
- Assisting with contraceptive coil fits
- Completing NHS Health Checks
- Act as chaperone for patients
- Chronic disease management: supporting annual checks for diabetes, hypertension & CHD; diabetic foot checks
- Seasonal flu vaccinations
- Maintaining strict confidentiality
- Promoting effective communication within the team
- Partaking in clinical supervision
- Effective use of EMIS Web IT system
- Contributing to practice/team audit
- Keeping up to date with mandatory training
- Attending staff meetings and group training
- Assisting patients with self-care and self-management
- Working within policies (e.g., Infection Control, Chaperoning)
- Potential development with spirometry and wound management

Job responsibilities
You must have a deep understanding of health services, together with a passion for improving lives and improving healthcare. Previous experience as a HCA & phlebotomy qualification is essential.

Essential: HCA & phlebotomy qualification
Desirable: Previous HCA experience in primary care or NHS clinical settings, understanding of EMIS Web, confident performing routine clinical observations, strong communication skills, ability to adapt quickly.
