We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic Primary Care Clinical Lead to join our forward thinking, friendly and expanding Health & Justice team at HMP Aylesbury.

Job summary

By joining our Prisons Health Care Team, you will not only look after the healthcare needs of our patients residing in secure environments, but also have the opportunity to have a real impact on promoting health and well-being.

Main duties of the job

  • Experienced healthcare professional combined with excellent staff managerial skills who will support the Deputy Head of Healthcare (Primary Care Lead) to manage and develop the Primary Care Team.
  • Proactively manage and lead the Primary Care Team to further develop services such as long-term conditions management; nurse led minor ailment clinics and immunisation programmes.
  • Demonstrate a professional manner which is tolerant, courteous and calm.
  • Demonstrate full and proactive commitment to equal opportunities.
  • Continually promote high standards of service within the Primary Care team.
  • Work closely with the Deputy Head of Healthcare (Primary Care Lead) and other Healthcare managers.
  • Deputise for Deputy Head of Healthcare in their absence.

Person Specification

Education & Qualification

  • Essential: Registered Healthcare Professional, Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Desirable: Non medical prescriber, Mentorship qualification

Experience

  • Essential: Primary Care or an acute setting (adult), Experience working at Band 6 level, Experience of staff management, development, supervision and appraisal, Experience of joint working with other agencies, Experience and competence in responding to medical emergencies
  • Desirable: Experience of working in secure setting, Experience of developing policies and procedures

Knowledge

  • Essential: Knowledge of Chronic Disease and Long Term Condition Management, Knowledge of current developments within Offender Healthcare

Key Skills/Abilities

  • Essential: Good communicator with competent presenting skills, Able to identify opportunities for developing effective and efficient service delivery, Able to manage change and respond flexibly, Able to provide clinical leadership and contribute to strategic direction, Able to problem solve and function at a high level under pressure
