Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist Team Leader- Critical Care

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a Speech and Language Therapist Team Leader to join the Critical Care team at QEHB on a 12-month fixed term contract. The role involves clinical leadership, operational management, and direct patient care for patients with swallowing, voice, airway, and communication difficulties in an ICU setting.

  • Salary: £49,387 to £56,515 a year
  • Working Pattern: Full-time, Flexible working

Main Duties

  • Assessing and managing patients with communication, airway and swallowing disorders in an ICU setting, including tracheostomy management.
  • Service development and audit
  • Training, operational management and supervision of junior colleagues and students
  • Working flexibly and thriving in a fast-paced environment
  • Analysing and reporting of service provision including KPIs.
  • Utilising specialist assessments including FEES.

Qualifications

  • BSc or recognised MSc degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Membership of RCSLT
  • Registration with HCPC
  • Completed RCSLT Level C dysphagia competencies/Level 5 EDS competencies (or above)
  • Completed tracheostomy competencies

Experience

  • Significant experience working independently with adult dysphagia caseload at a specialist level
  • Significant experience working within a critical care or high-dependency clinical setting
  • Significant experience of working independently within an acute hospital setting
  • Significant experience of working successfully as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstration of people management at either an individual or team level
