Charge Nurse

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is hiring a Charge Nurse for Mulberry Ward, Scunthorpe. Permanent, full-time, Band 6 salary £39,959 - £48,117 per annum.

Our team is made up of nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, psychology assistants, pharmacy technicians, re-enablement support workers, healthcare assistants, trainee associate nurses, registered associate nurses, medics, advanced clinical nurse specialists, psychiatrists and ward manager.

We are also keen to develop you by offering Leadership and clinical courses external and internal. Also there are options to undertake development courses at universities.

Main Duties of the Job

  • To be responsible for the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
  • To take charge of the Ward on a regular basis and acting up in the absence of the Ward Manager /Clinical Lead.
  • To provide a positive clinical lead to junior staff.

MAIN TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Patient Care 60%, Human Resources and Management 10%, Administration 10%, Education and Training 10%, Financial Responsibilities 2%, Other duties 8%.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse
  • Successful completion of preceptorship programme
  • Appropriate demonstrable experience of relevant post qualification.

Experience

Essential:

  • Previous experience of working within a health / care setting.
  • Understanding of the importance of the promotion of health and wellbeing (Making Every Contact Count).

Knowledge

Essential:

  • Effective knowledge & understanding of the specialist assessment required for older adults.
  • Recognised Mentorship qualification.
  • Can demonstrate a working knowledge of the management requirements of the role e.g. HR and sickness absence.
  • Commitment to lifelong learning
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good facilitation skills
  • Evidence of effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organise self and others to achieve tasks.
  • Ability to motivate service users.
  • Theoretical knowledge of MHA legislation and MCA legislation.
  • Awareness of local and national mental health developments.

Desirable:

  • Working knowledge and application of the recovery model in collaboration with service users.

Skills
