Junior Clinical Fellow in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Job Summary

The successful applicant will be exposed to elective and emergency oral and maxillofacial surgery patients and will gain experience in how to approach clinical situations starting from the initial consultation, making the diagnosis, to clerking and preparing the patients for theatre, post operative management and short, medium and long term follow-up in outpatient clinics. This is a fixed term post for 12 months.

Main Duties of the Job

• Gain experience in diagnosis and treatment of the injured patient on Trauma.
• Participate in consultant led ward rounds, clinics and theatre lists.
• Attend departmental teaching sessions and monthly clinical governance meetings.
• General ward care, upkeep of medical records, and involvement in clinical audit.
• Opportunities for research available; successful candidates encouraged to participate.
• Current rota commitment is 1:10 shift pattern including prospective cover for study/annual leave.

Person Specification

Qualifications (Essential)

• MBBS or BDS or equivalent medical degree
• Core Surgical Training Level 1 or above or equivalent at time of application
• Eligible for full registration with General Medical/Dental Council with current licence to practice
