Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and self-motivated radiographer to join our dynamic Ultrasound team as a trainee. This is a training post within the Ultrasound Department, specifically training in obstetrics, gynaecology and general medical ultrasound. The training is full-time (37.5 hours each week) and is both academic and practical. There is a need to attend a higher education institute and a need to complete assessments throughout the training. Successful completion of the training will result in a formal qualification in Medical Ultrasound (PGDip). Because this is a training position, the salary is paid under Annex 21, which means you receive a percentage of the full qualified rate depending on how close you are to completing your training.

Main Duties of the Job

  • To ensure images and examination details are stored appropriately.
  • To use ultrasound equipment safely and effectively.
  • Adhere to ultrasound guidance and protocols.
  • Participate in audits and review activities to ensure continued high department and practice standards.
  • Responsible for managing own workload, specifically training and academic workload.
  • Work within trainee scope of practice, remaining within expected levels of competencies and seeking advice/guidance/assistance when required.
  • Undertaking ultrasound examinations and providing high quality reports on scans appropriate to training and level of training undertaken.
  • Carrying out support duties to support management and function of the department within a student Sonographer role, including joining team meetings, chaperoning and helping patients.
  • Progressing patient care and workflow of the ultrasound team, following relevant scan findings and acting accordingly.
  • Attending relevant training events, programmes and examinations when required for successful completion of the training course.
  • Ensuring a high level of communication with both patients and colleagues.

Essential: BSc Diagnostic Radiography

Professional Registration

Essential: HCPC registration Desirable: Evidence of relevant post graduate study, Previous Ultrasound qualification

Experience

Essential: Experience of NHS models of care Desirable: Participation in Trust/clinical meetings, Experience in Audit, Knowledge of IT systems required to be used in the areas of work
