Job Summary
We are excited to offer a full time band 5-6 development post in North Yorkshire, York and Selby CAMHS Crisis service. We are looking to appoint a NMC registered nurse to work as a CAMHS Crisis Clinician. The team is in a position to support a band 5 clinician through their competencies to allow them to develop the knowledge and skills of a band 6. If all competencies are completed the applicant will receive a permanent band 6 position within the team.
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate nursing staff to join our locality-wide team. This role involves providing rapid assessment, intervention, and support to children and young people experiencing acute mental health crisis. You will work collaboratively with families, carers, and multi-agency partners to ensure timely, safe, and effective care.
Main Duties of the Job
- Provide rapid assessment, intervention, and support to children and young people in crisis.
- Work collaboratively with families, carers, and multi-agency partners.
- Operate a 24/7 service including bank holidays and weekends.
- Work across three bases: Foss Park Hospital York, Cross Lane Scarborough, and The Orchards Ripon.
- Participate in regular appraisal and talent management for professional development.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council (RNMH or RNLD) (Essential)
- To be recognised practice assessor/mentor or work towards in an agreed timescale (Essential)
- Trained Clinical Supervisor (within 6 month probationary period) (Essential)
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (Essential)
Experience
- Working with people with mental ill health/learning disabilities (Essential)
- Working in a person centred therapeutic organisation (Essential)
- Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers (Essential)
- Working in a multi-disciplinary team (Essential)
- Working in partnership with other agencies (Essential)
Knowledge
- Evidence based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field (Essential)
- Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act) (Essential)
- Understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice (Essential)
- Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice (Essential)
- Clinical Governance and its application in practice (Essential)
- Confident working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections (Essential)
