Legal Counsel
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is hiring a Legal Counsel. This is a permanent, full-time position based in Nottingham with hybrid working (minimum 2 days per week). Salary up to £80,000 depending on experience.
About the Role
Join [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] as a Legal Counsel at an exciting time of growth and transformation. You’ll play a key role in shaping strategic decisions and supporting major commercial activity across the business. This mid-level PQE role reports to the Head of Legal and offers a broad workload, including commercial contracts, technology, digital change, operational resilience, consumer agreements, and strategic transactions. You’ll work closely with teams across the organisation, mentor junior lawyers, and influence key programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver expert legal advice across commercial, corporate, contract, data protection, real estate, and litigation matters.
- Support strategic transactions including Treasury-related deals.
- Drive contract excellence with suppliers, partners, and customers.
- Manage external counsel for effective, cost-efficient support.
- Monitor legal and regulatory changes and implement necessary actions.
- Enable risk-smart decision making and support risk mitigation.
- Mentor and support junior lawyers.
About You
- Commercial law expertise with strong knowledge of corporate, commercial, and contract law.
- Data privacy awareness of UK data protection legislation.
- Skilled communicator with exceptional negotiation and analytical abilities.
- Stakeholder partner with excellent management skills.
- Deal experience handling complex transactions and high-value agreements.
- Process-driven mindset for improving legal operations.
- Supportive leader experienced in mentoring junior lawyers.
- Qualified solicitor (5+ PQE recommended) with data privacy certification desirable.
