Paediatric Senior Clinical Support Worker

The role involves providing holistic care to children under the direction of a registered nurse, with duties including patient monitoring, clinical care, and communication with patients and families. We have two exciting opportunities to join our team as we are looking to recruit a Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker to work on the Children's Ward at Russells Hall Hospital. Main Duties of the Job

The Senior Clinical Support Worker will work together with members of the Nursing team and contribute to the implementation of a high standard and individualised patient care under the direction of a registered nurse. The post holder will be required to communicate effectively with other members of the health care team, patients and relatives and must be able to recognise and report to the appropriate person any changes in the patient's condition which may require the intervention of others. The post holder will be assessed on appointment on their level of competence and required as part of the Trusts training and development programme for clinical support workers to undertake a structured pathway of development to include basic skills and in house development programme. Person Specification

  • Qualifications (Essential): GCSE Grade 4-9 or C or above in English and Maths or Equivalent; QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent qualification/relevant experience.
  • Communication & Relationship Skills (Essential): Evidence of effective communication skills including verbal, written (legible handwriting), non-verbal, compassion and respect; ability to communicate appropriately with patients, relatives and/or carers; ability to communicate effectively with staff/multidisciplinary team; understanding of how to behave/act in a clinical environment; positive and enthusiastic approach to work.
  • Experience (Essential): Evidence of working in Acute Patient Care; able to undertake a limited range of delegated clinical care duties (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, urinalysis, wound observations, removal cannula, etc); manual handing of patients (including toileting, bathing and turning patients), equipment and stores. Desirable: Evidence of Paediatric experience.
  • Knowledge & Training (Essential): Prepared to undergo further training; able to use and update IT systems with patient information; ability to recognise limitations of knowledge and competence and practice within these boundaries.
