Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an ST3+ level doctor to develop advanced clinical and academic skills within a world-leading tertiary fetal-maternal medicine referral centre at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]. The successful candidate will develop independent competencies to perform advanced obstetric ultrasound scans in first, second and third trimester including independent certification in cervical length assessments, fetal Dopplers and fetal echocardiography to enable supporting management of a wide range of complex obstetric and fetal conditions. They will also participate in high-quality research, contributing to innovative projects that are expected to lead to peer-reviewed publications and support a higher degree (PhD). In addition to developing technical and academic expertise, the post holder will gain experience in supervising and supporting training in advanced obstetric ultrasound, including teaching and mentoring junior trainees and sonographers.

Main duties of the job
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centred obstetric ultrasound within a busy tertiary fetal-maternal medicine referral centre.
- Demonstrate strong clinical judgement and manage complex cases efficiently within a multidisciplinary team.
- Develop effective communication, prioritisation, and decision-making skills.
- Undertake a higher degree (PhD) alongside clinical training.
- Contribute to design, delivery and analysis of original research in fetal-maternal medicine.
- Support teaching and supervision of resident doctors, midwives and sonographers.
- Participate in service improvement, clinical governance, and audit activities.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential: MBBS or equivalent; Eligible for full registration with the GMC; MRCOG Part 1.
Desirable: MRCOG Part 2 and 3.
Experience
Essential: Experience at ST3 or above in obstetrics; Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable: Evidence of experience in Obstetric ultrasound; Experience of clinical teaching; Experience in undertaking clinical audits and/or CIPs; Evidence of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Skills and Abilities
Essential: Demonstrate awareness of responsibility to and advocacy for patients; Ability to lead new projects; Good standard of computer literacy; Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the principles of clinical audit clinical governance; Highly motivated.
Communication
Essential: Effective communication and interpersonal skills within a multi-disciplinary team.
Personal and People Development
Essential: Demonstrate enthusiasm and can motivate others.
