Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and reliable individual to join our Interventional Supply Chain team. The successful candidate will be based within Theatres at Worcester Royal Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, timely, and accurate supply chain services within a busy and dynamic hospital environment. This role involves working closely with colleagues across Theatres, Clinical Departments, and the wider Procurement and Supply Chain teams to ensure the effective management and flow of stock and supplies. Applicants should have good communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and confidence in using IT systems, including both desktop and handheld devices. Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a hospital or healthcare setting, is desirable but not essential.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Receiving and receipting deliveries
  • Stock rotation and replenishment of clinical areas
  • Conducting cycle counts and stock audits
  • Internal distribution of goods across the department
  • Supporting the implementation of a Trust-wide Inventory Management System

The successful candidate will work as part of a supportive and experienced Supply Chain team but will also be expected to work independently and without supervision when required. This is a physically active role including the lifting and movement of goods and roll cages. The post holder will be expected to follow safe manual handling procedures when receiving, transporting, and distributing stock across the site. On occasion, the role may require travel to other Trust locations to provide operational support or cover. Flexibility, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards are essential.

Job Responsibilities

  • Deal and distribute any post or incoming correspondence within the Supply Chain section.
  • To take receipt, sign for and book in delivered goods whilst reporting any discrepancies and taking the appropriate corrective action.
  • To undertake activities regarding stock movement analysis and re-order level assessment.
  • To advise and agree upon replenishment levels with authorised staff.
  • To deliver goods to their correct end destination and obtain a signed delivery note where applicable.
  • To continually develop and improve relationships with internal customers.
  • To monitor and control replenishment levels, in-house and at ward level.
  • To be aware of and adhere to the correct ethics in transacting in public business.
  • To move and distribute materials using appropriate manual handling equipment.
  • To put away top up items ensuring stock rotation.
  • To operate mechanical aids in a responsible and safe manner.
  • To carry out stock taking duties in relevant areas.
  • Issue stock to internal and external sites.
  • To maintain systems for filing of delivery notes.
  • To participate in training sessions.
  • To train, educate and give guidance on ordering procedures to Trust personnel.
  • To monitor contract compliance.
  • Carry out Supply Chain staff relief duties at other locations.
  • Deal with queries in a professional and efficient manner.
  • To arrange the return of products.
  • To organise and prioritise workloads.
  • Provide advice and information to internal customers.
  • To use reporting programmes to interrogate systems.
  • Be responsible for day to day security of goods.
  • Assist in implementation of new product ranges.
  • Actively contribute to the efficiency of the section.
  • To ensure stock rooms are kept clean and tidy.
  • To abide by Trust SFIs.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential: Supply Chain experience, Experience of ordering systems, Knowledge of Supply Chain Systems, Experience of IT Office Systems (Microsoft, Excel, Word), Experience of working in a business and distribution environment.

Desirable: Supply Chain experience within a healthcare environment.

Personal Qualities

Essential: Ability to prioritise and develop creative solutions, keep accurate records, be proactive, willingness to change, demonstrate competence in planning, team player, physically fit for manual handling duties.

Qualifications

Essential: Good standard of General Education, Good IT and keyboard Skills, Computer literate.

Desirable: C.I.P.S./C.I.L.T. or relevant Supply Chain qualifications, Knowledge and understanding of the NHS, Understanding of Trusts Standing Financial Instructions and Procurement procedures.

Other Job Requirements

Essential: Ability to work flexible hours and travel across Trust sites, ability to work unsupervised, satisfactory Occupational Health clearance, professional appearance, able to demonstrate Trust values.

Desirable: Driving license.

Skills/Knowledge

Essential: Knowledge of basic Supply Chain management, working knowledge of basic office practices, customer-focus, able to organise workload, appreciation of stock management techniques.

Desirable: Knowledge of goods & services used within NHS, analytical skills.
