The role involves delivering high-quality fabric maintenance, including carpentry, joinery, painting, and general building works, with a focus on planned and reactive tasks. The position requires an NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry & Joinery or equivalent, a full UK driving licence, and proven experience in building maintenance. Job summary

The key function is to support [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Services in delivering building services maintenance and repairs across the NHS to ensure buildings are maintained to the highest standards and to provide a safe and secure environment for visitors, customers, and employees.

Main duties of the job

  • Ensure compliance in line with all processes/procedures and policies that meets organisational standards/requirements including but not limited to our Health & Safety Policy/HTMs (Health Technical Memoranda) and SFG20.
  • Undertake routine planned and reactive maintenance service as instructed by the Team Leader, ensuring that operational standards are maintained at all times. To also support the work that is included in minor work.
  • Undertake routine repairs or minor works including joinery, painting and decoration, general building works, ground works or general plumbing.
  • To maintain effective site log books at all NHS premises ensuring that they are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Support the Projects/Construction team and Team Leader in delivering minor capital works to NHS premises.

We have a Maintenance Operative (Fabric) role to join our team, based at Camborne & Redruth Community Hospital, covering sites across West Cornwall.

  • Starting salary from £30,000 per annum + On call allowance
  • Full time 37.5 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

This role is responsible for delivering a highquality, responsive fabric maintenance service across [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Services sites in West Cornwall. The Maintenance Operative (Fabric) will undertake a variety of planned and reactive building maintenance tasks, with a primary focus on carpentry and joinery works. The role involves travelling between multiple sites, carrying out repairs, upgrades and minor installations, and ensuring all works are completed safely, compliantly and to a high standard. Where competent, the post holder may also support with basic plumbing or electrical tasks alongside other facilities maintenance activities. The Maintenance Operative will work independently, manage their workload effectively, maintain accurate records of works completed, and work collaboratively with wider facilities teams to support the safe operation of healthcare environments.

Essential Requirements

  • NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry & Joinery - essential
  • Proven experience in building or facilities maintenance
  • Ability to work independently across multiple sites
  • Strong practical and problemsolving skills
  • Full UK driving licence

Based at Camborne & Redruth Community Hospital, covering NHS sites across West Cornwall, from Newquay to Falmouth and west to Penzance.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or higher BTEC/City & Guilds or equivalent.
  • Formal apprenticeship or craft trained equivalent.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Experience

  • Previous experience working within a buildings maintenance environment.
  • Previous experience of undertaking minor works and repairs.
  • Working within the requirements of method statements or permit to work.
  • Experience maintaining services to SFG20.
