Medical Receptionist

Job Summary
To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties include greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, processing information, and assisting patients as required. The role acts as the central point of contact for patients, distributing information, messages, and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multi-disciplinary team members and external agencies.
Main Duties of the Job
- Receive, assist, and direct patients in accessing appropriate services or healthcare professionals.
- Offer general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and visitors.
- Undertake administrative duties including clerical and secretarial support to clinical staff.
- Facilitate effective communication between patients, primary health care team, secondary care, and other agencies.

Job Responsibilities
Job Title: Medical Receptionist. Accountable to Practice Manager. Hours: 22 per week (Wednesday 12:30-18:30, Thursday 8:00-17:00, Friday 8:00-17:00). Core responsibilities include reception duties, appointment system management, data entry on EMIS Web, processing repeat prescriptions, scanning documents, and maintaining reception area. Secondary responsibilities include audit support and administrative cover.
