About the Company

Since launching the world’s first portable wood-pellet pizza oven in 2012, [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] has grown into an award-winning, multinational company with a product range loved by pizza makers all over the globe. Our mission has always been to design innovative products that spark joy in our customers, and whilst we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished so far - we’re only just getting started.

We’re now entering an exciting new chapter in [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]’s journey. As part of our growth strategy, we’re strengthening our core technical capabilities within our product team and that's where you come in. In this role, you’ll play a pivotal part in shaping the next generation of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] products - transforming creative ideas into robust, production-ready, high-volume solutions.

The Role

This is a hands-on, highly technical position where you will be involved in electronics development across the entire product lifecycle. This is a dynamic Tech Dev role, meaning you must be able to move between innovation, New Product Development (NPD), and Continuous Product Improvement (CPI). From early breadboard prototypes and first-pass PCB designs, through to production-ready solutions, you’ll oversee every stage involving electronics, while collaborating closely with our manufacturing partners in the Asia-Pacific region. Reporting to our Head of Product Design and Innovation you will be part of an energetic and highly ambitious multifunctional team. This role will spend 4 days per week at our offices in Broxburn, Edinburgh.

What You’ll Do

  • Concept-to-Prototype Development: Own the process of turning ideas into physical electronic systems, from initial breadboarding to fully functioning prototype rigs.
  • Specification & Documentation: Generate electronics requirements, capturing specifications meticulously and translating them into actionable design documents.
  • Supplier Collaboration: Work with manufacturing partners (primarily in China) to develop solutions that can scale from prototype to production.
  • Testing & Validation: Lead test programs for electronic components, ensuring reliability, compliance, and performance against our key requirements in partnership with our product testing team.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Provide ad-hoc technical input to product design engineers, product category managers, and customer experience teams to help solve electronics-related challenges.
  • Define the System Logic: Contribute to the application layer development and help define how the system behaves. Translate real-world requirements into a logical control flow.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

This role is ideal for a technically strong, detail-oriented engineer who enjoys turning ideas into working prototypes and is comfortable giving input across the entire product development lifecycle. You’ll thrive at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] if you’re a collaborative problem-solver who enjoys working in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Meaningful experience in electronics engineering, ideally in a product development setting.
  • BEng or MEng in Electronics, Embedded Systems, or a closely related discipline.
  • A “fail-fast” mentality - willing to test, learn, and iterate rapidly to find the best solution.
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to simplify complex information for a less technical group.
  • Ability to read, create and troubleshoot schematics as well employ good design principles.
  • Experience with at least one EDA tool such as Altium Designer, KiCad, or similar.
  • Ability to write and debug simple C/C++ scripts to support prototyping and communicate the flow of an application layer.
  • Familiarity with common embedded communication protocols (I²C, SPI, CAN, UART, etc).
  • Experience designing for actuators, sensors, and control systems.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and power analysers.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience with power delivery systems including mains, USB-PD, batteries, and switching regulators.
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles.
