FULL DESCRIPTION

Volunteer Deanery Environmental Lead

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is recruiting volunteer Deanery Environmental Leads to support environmental action across the diocese.

Role Overview

In March 2020, the Diocesan Synod declared a climate emergency creating an Environmental Task Group (ETG) to oversee an ambitious programme of change. As part of this work, the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] has committed to supporting the A Rocha Eco Church scheme. To enable us to achieve this we are seeking to recruit volunteers with the right experience, gifts and skills to give their time and become deanery environmental leads.

The [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] covers three counties Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire and due to its size is divided into four smaller ‘episcopal areas’ (Oxford, Dorchester, Buckingham and Reading) each overseen by their own area bishop. There are 29 deaneries or groups of parishes and ideally, we are looking for one or two people per deanery to support this vital work.

The volunteer deanery environmental leads will be part of the Discipleship and Social Justice team within the Department of Mission and Ministry and will support our environmental team. Further information about our environmental action programme can be found on our diocesan website.

Time Commitment

We anticipate this volunteer role requires between two to four hours per week.

Ideal Candidate

If you are interested in climate and environmental issues and have a chance to make a difference, help others, make new friends and gain work experience within the area then we would love to hear from you.
