Job Summary
Be Part of Building Something New: Band 7 Systemic Family Therapist at East Cheshire 0-18 CYPMH. Are you a passionate and qualified Systemic Family Therapist looking to make a real impact? We are excited to invite applications for a Band 7 Systemic Family Therapist to join our thriving Children and Young People's Mental Health Service (CYPMH) in West Cheshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team and help establish the psychodynamic offer within the service, further strengthening our approach to supporting young people and their families. Shortlisting for this vacancy is due to commence on 11 May 2026 and the proposed interview date is 3 June 2026.
Main Duties of the Job
- Conduct assessments and deliver evidence-based systemic interventions for children, young people (0-18) and their families experiencing a range of mental health difficulties.
- Play a key role in developing and implementing the psychodynamic offer within the service, collaborating with colleagues from various disciplines.
- Provide support and contribute your expertise to the existing family therapy clinic.
- Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and other professionals.
- Contribute to ongoing service development and improvement initiatives.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential: Approved Family Therapy Qualification; Nurse [RMN, RN, HV], Social Work, Clinical Psychology. Desirable: Accredited with Association of Family Therapist and UKCP; Additional training in specified therapeutic approaches e.g. CBT, SFBT.
Knowledge and Expertise
Essential: 2 Years of working within a CYPMH setting or Child Mental Health related field; 2 Years' experience of working with Family Therapy in a CYPMH or related Child Mental Health Field setting; Experience of working with therapeutic approaches e.g. brief Intervention, behavioural models. Desirable: Working experience of Family Therapy Teams, Reflecting Teams and Co-working Family Therapy Sessions.
Experience
Essential: Working theoretical knowledge of Systemic models and approaches; Knowledge of Child Protection workings and practice; Knowledge of Children related legislation e.g. Children's Act; Knowledge of Clinical Governance; Experience of Clinical Supervision; Experience of writing, implementing and evaluating Treatment Plans; Experience of interagency working. Desirable: Experience of working with Students/Learners; Experience of providing Clinical Supervision.
