We have an exciting opportunity for a Bank Substance Misuse Nurse to join our Substance Misuse team at HMP Winchester, a category B Prison located in central Winchester. HMP Winchester is a Category B Local remand prison located in Central Winchester accommodating approximately 670 male prisoners. Although the site is close to Winchester city centre there is onsite parking for all staff and it is a short walk from Winchester train station.
Hours
8-4pm & 2-10pm shift times over 7 days a week.
Salary
£23.83 per hour

Main duties of the job
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, prioritising patient care to develop individualised packages of care through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning
- Deliver a range of treatment options including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both a group and 1-1 setting with recovery at the centre of our healthcare wellbeing model
- Be able to carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans and confidently communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users.
- Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects and liaise with prescribers. You will work with individuals, on a 1-1 basis, providing advice and information
- Support in group work delivery and liaise with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions. You will occasionally be required to support dispensing
- Have an understanding and commitment to recovery and a person centred approach.

Person Specification
- Registered nurse with current NMC registration.
- Experience of Substance Misuse
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD).
- RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse or willingness to undertake.
- Experience of working with opiate dependant patients.
- Sound clinical substance misuse knowledge.
