Job Summary
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Group is looking to expand their team and are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, flexible patient services advisor/administrator to join our very busy but friendly GP Practice based in Murton. We are looking for a full time patient services advisor to join our team, applicants must have experience of working in a NHS setting and have a knowledge of medical reception duties.
Main Duties of the Job
- Dealing with patients both face to face and via telephone
- Booking/amending appointments and home visits
- Processing repeat prescriptions
- Acknowledging arrivals and directing to waiting areas
- Summarising/coding of clinical letters
- Scanning and other administrative duties
- Liaising with practice staff, healthcare professionals and external agencies

Our Team includes 2 Advanced Clinical Practitioners, well established Nursing Team, Pharmacy Team, and a hard working Management, Reception and Administrative Team. We are a training and teaching practice. We are part of North Easington PCN and have an extended multidisciplinary team. We are a member of South Durham Health Federation. We are CQC rated 'Good' in all areas.
Job Responsibilities
- Greet and direct patients and visitors.
- Make appointment bookings using the Care Navigation Templates.
- Process repeat prescription requests and forward queries to the practice pharmacist and/or pharmacy technician.
- Take home visit requests.
- Deal with general enquiries and complaints.
- Take messages accurately and pass on in a timely manner.
- Assist people to access the services they need.
- Undertake a variety of reception duties.
- Register new and temporary residents.
- Give out pathology results, once actioned by clinicians.
- Arrange and book translators.
- Respond to the needs of GP's and Nurses.
- Update the clinical system with information.
- Action change of address notifications.
- Dealing with workflow processes within the practice.
- Liaise with Practice, Primary Care Organisation's, patients and other external organisation's.
- Fully utilise SystmOne (training will be provided) and other IT systems.
- Monitor and check tasks and workflows.
- Communicate effectively with the reception team.
- Keep directories and databases up to date.
- Photocopying.
- Dealing with internal and external post.
- Attend meetings when required.
- Scanning/Coding and other administrative duties.
- Work safely in accordance with legislation and practice policies.
- Be flexible and cover for colleagues absent due to annual leave or sickness.
- Any other reasonable duties requested by Business Manager, Operational Manager or GP.
- Show respect and courtesy to patients and colleagues, maintain confidentiality.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential: Good standard of general education, GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and Math's, Excellent communication skills.
Desirable: NVQ Level 2 Business Administration or equivalent, NVQ Level 2 Customer Service or equivalent.
Experience
Essential: Experience of working within a GP Practice essential. Experience of working with patients/public. Competent user of Microsoft Excel and Word.
Desirable: Experience of working with SystmOne clinical system although full training will be provided to the right candidate.
