Main Duties of the Job

We are looking to recruit a full time (37.5 hours) First Contact Podiatrist to join our established and experienced team. [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is England's largest independent specialist First Contact provider, dedicated exclusively to supporting NHS Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and GP practices with high-quality, tech-enabled FCP services across Physiotherapy and Podiatry. First Contact Podiatrists (FCPs) are autonomous practitioners working within GP practices who can assess, diagnose, treat, and manage lower-limb and foot conditions, including undifferentiated presentations. They provide rapid, accurate diagnosis and management plans, streamline patient pathways, and play a key role in reducing GP workload. Patients can access FCPs directly via self-referral or be directed by practice staff.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, triage, and manage patients, taking responsibility for the management of a complex caseload.
  • Develop and make use of your full scope of clinical practice, including independent prescribing, injection therapy, and investigations.
  • Manage complex interactions, including patients with psychosocial and mental health needs.
  • Deliver programmes of supported patient self-management.
  • Provide care tailored to individual needs and support goal setting.
  • Develop collaborative working across the PCN and support integration of pathways.
  • Lead, manage, and contribute to service delivery and clinical governance.
  • Provide feedback and support to other PCN clinical team members.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

  • Fully HCPC and CoP registered practicing Podiatrist
  • Up-to-date CPD portfolio demonstrating knowledge of MSK core capabilities framework

Desirable Qualifications

  • Qualified injection therapist and/or independent prescriber
  • Completion of some level 7 MSc learning

Essential Experience

  • Minimum 5 years post-graduate podiatry experience

Desirable Experience

  • Previous clinical experience of first contact triage
  • Previous experience of working in a GP practice
  • Previous experience of using EMIS / SystmOne
